In 2025, the Fundació Joan Miró celebrates its 50th anniversary in Barcelona, marking half a century since architect Josep Lluís Sert designed its iconic building on Montjuïc. A modern architectural space that, since its inauguration, has become a major hub for the work of Miró, one of the most important artists in international art history.

The foundation commemorates this milestone with a varied program combining art, music, performance, and reflections on contemporary creation. The theme of the celebrations, “For the People of Tomorrow,” reflects the aim to connect Miró's legacy with the concerns of the present and creative visions for the future. Highlights include exhibitions like "Painting the Sky: 50 Years of Stories at the Joan Miró Foundation", which explores the historical and artistic context of its founding, and “Exchanges. Miró and the United States”, which connects Miró's work with American artists such as Jackson Pollock, Louise Bourgeois, and Mark Rothko.

In addition, there will be new exhibitions in the permanent collection, including “Miró: A Scientific Investigation” (April 2025), “Joan Miró: Gallery of Anti-Portraits” (July 2025), and “Miró: Improvised Supports”. Activities in the Espai 13 will include reconstructions of historical exhibitions and a show on Asian video art talent.

These celebrations will continue until June 2026, further establishing the Fundació Joan Miró as a key space for artistic reflection today.
